  • To promote the new Netflix show, you can play a Lost in Space game on your Google Home.
  • Just say, “Hey Google, play the Lost in Space game” to try it out.

The new Netflix reimagining of the classic 60s television show Lost in Space is available to watch now. But if you have some time and want to get amped up for a weekend binge watch, you can play a Lost in Space game using only your Google Home.

Similar to an “escape the room” type of game, this Lost in Space game puts you into dangerous quagmires and tasks you with coming up with solutions to move on to the next area. The actors who play the main characters on the show provide voice instructions on where you are, what the problem is, and possible solutions to remedy the situation.

To play the game, you provide voice input in the form of yes-or-no answers or picking from multiple choice options. For example, at one point in the game your ship is trapped in ice. You need to melt the ice using an element that’s available on the planet. Is it cobalt, magnesium, or silver? You provide the answer and, if you’re right, you melt through the ice and move on to the next issue.

The game itself isn’t too thrilling, but the idea of sitting next to your smart speaker and playing a game using only your brain and your voice is pretty cool. And, if you binge through Lost in Space and want to continue hanging out with the Robinsons, this is a neat way to do that.

There’s no word on how long the game will be playable, but you can be relatively assured that you have all weekend to check it out.

To play the game, simply say, “Hey Google, play the Lost in Space game.”

As a side note, if you want to end the game before it’s over, say, “Hey Google, turn off the Lost in Space game.” If you cut that down to something like, “Hey Google, stop game” or “Hey Google, turn off the game,” it won’t work, and you’ll just get frustrated.
