Nyjah Huston #SkateLife is like a mobile Tony Hawk Pro Skater

Full disclosure: I am not a skateboard guy and have no idea who Nyjah Huston is. In fact, I don’t even know how to pronounce Nyjah. However, I also had no idea who Tony Hawk was before the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise of video games hit the market, and now I know him by his face alone.

Something similar could happen with the new mobile game Nyjah Huston #SkateLife, available now for Android and iOS. The free-to-play game puts you in control of Huston as you skate and grind away on the beautiful streets of Venice Beach. According to the listing on the Google Play Store, this is the first official game completely endorsed by Huston.

Check out this gameplay video, which was released about a year ago during the game’s development:

As you can see from the video, the game isn’t focused on realism: you can make Huston defy the laws of physics to complete tricks and earn points. However, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games weren’t exactly known for their realistic portrayal of skateboarding, either.

This being a free mobile game, there are the expected ads and in-app purchases. You can pay to upgrade your skateboard, give Huston new looks, or unlock new types of tricks that Huston can perform. You can also earn new items and tricks by accumulating “kudos” for doing well-enough in-game.

There are also skate competitions that add a multi-player element to the game. These street competitions can earn you more points, unlock new tricks, and get you trophies to add to your collection.
